WHO sends delegates to China for Covid-19 research

The World Health Organization (WHO) will send envoys to China to investigate how the corona virus (Covid-19) originated and spread from animals to humans.

Fabian Leendertz, one of the delegates to be sent to China by a specialist at the Robert Koch Institute in Germany, spoke to reporters and said that the purpose of sending delegates to China was to collect data to better prepare for future outbreaks.

Leendertz said they expect a visit scheduled for next month, starting in China's Wuhan province, where the Covid-19 was first discovered.

Leendertz also said that the delegates would investigate whether there were any medical data that might indicate if the virus was spreading earlier than expected, before the first case was discovered.

Noting the purpose of the visit was to address what happened to Wuhan as a whole, and the origin of the virus as to which animal and how it came to humans, Leendertz added that they would be able to identify further causes of the epidemic and better action would be taken against it in the future. .

The Covid-19 virus, which originated in Wuhan China in December 2019, spread to more than 200 countries and turned into a major epidemic. While the number of cases of infection exceeded 74 million, more than 1,657,000 million people lost their lives due to the virus.
